Jacob's 9th birthday

Jacob wanted to have a party based on the Tron movies for his birthday this year.  Hmmm, what to do for Tron???  I decided that even though a taking all of the boys to a laser tag place might be more Tron-like, I just couldn't stand the thought of being in charge of all these kids in the dark with a bunch of strangers.  Over protective? Probably.  Want to keep my sanity? Absolutely.  However, when you hear what we did instead you will still question my sanity....

We had all the little boys (who aren't so little anymore) over to our house to ride their bikes in our cul-de-sac in the dark with glow sticks of course!  I did let all of the parents know that we would be riding bikes in the dark, but I should have said that in lieu of gifts to bring band-aids and gauze and cast material.  No, we did not have any broken bones, but how we avoided it is a mystery.  Anyway, the kids had fun, no one got abducted, and we only had a few minor scrapes and bruises :)

Birthday dinner (spaghetti noodles with butter and parmesean cheese)

Cul-de-sac hilarity

Matthew and Caleb on their "light cycles"

Piper and her 'light cycle"

Libby and her "identity disc" and glow in the dark glasses (apparently I thought riding in the dark wasn't dangerous enough, we needed to have obstructed vision too)

Caleb and his glow in the dark frisbee "identity disc"

Identity disc birthday cake

Jacob's glowing bike tires (no, we did not let all the kids ride when it was this dark, just our own child)
